Lara & Alex

It is no secret that I love people. I do. Really. People are fantastic! And when fantastic people are part of your family, well, then you're really blessed. Lara and Alex are just those people. And for a photographer, they're a dream. I didn't pose them really at all and they just rocked this session like nobodys business. Love you both! xoxoxoxo

Alli and Scott With Lots of Supermodel Wind

I have just learned to go with it. What do I mean with it? Just all of it. Life it. Weather it. Whatever it. So tonight was a weather "it" with lots of wind and good chance of rain. I had a cute umbrella just in case, but I didn't want to have to use it. I didn't have to thankfully, but there was the wind. What do you do with wind? Call it supermodel wind and go with it. Also, I had amazing models/people who don't mind sitting in wind. It was a great session with great people. My eyes are burning from fatigue, so we're just going to end "it". Enjoy this fantastic couple (as much as I do)! And also, a special thanks to Dorothy Buchinger for the usage of the tandem bike, my mom for the usage of her antique blanket that looked stunning and the neighbors to my mom and dad for their tire swing that they have no idea we used :) This isn't nearly all the pictures, but I can no longer function properly today. Bed please! More to follow!

When Taking Pictures...

A little advice for my fellow photographers. No matter how cute your kids, never - I repeat NEVER take photos of your own children. There will be whining, possible tears, temper tantrums and attitude by the truckloads. And that is just from you. However, if you have adorable nieces and nephews, click away. Hire someone else to tackle your kids. I have heeded my own advise (with the exception of having another photographer deal with my kids and therefore have no up-to-date pictures of my offspring) and had a quick 10 minute session with my sister's kids and look how gorgeous they are!

Naples in Photos {Libby Style}

Have I mentioned how much I love Naples? I think I have, but please allow me to reiterate... I LOVE NAPLES! So beautiful and just for my fellow Michiganders, it is so warm and so sunny! Here are some photos of my walk around the village on the last day.

Joanna and TJ

For every photographer there is a dream location with a dream couple to photograph. Well, I'm living the dream! It is currently between the ceremony and reception with just enough time to chill in my room and give you a little tease from my amazing day so far.

I worked with Joanna a few years ago and just love her. I met TJ about a week ago and realized right away that they were perfect for each other. The ceremony was set on the beach and emotions were running high. Absolutely gorgeous was the setting, the weather but most of all the couple. Congrats Joanna and TJ! I'll post more pictures later. :)

The Rockin' Assistant

I think it is a great time to introduce my assistant/second shooter/ friend Jenny. Many people when they see that I offer a second shooter want to get to know a little bit about her too and this is the perfect opportunity since I took some pictures of her and her boyfriend the other day.

Jenny and I meant when I was working the typical 9-5 job with her mom. Jenny would stop in once in a while and we would chat photography. What better way to get her some experience than to have her tag along? Fast forward a couple of years and here we are. Working side by side and having a TON of fun together. For some reason, she is not completely embarrassed by me and my dorkiness. Or bless her little soul, just won't tell me that she is mortified by having to hang with me :)

Jenny is sweet, loving, kind and talented. Not much else you need to know. She runs around and gets all little extra things that I am not able to get all the time when I'm the only photographer. She is my runner, my paper holder, my go-getter, my back-up and soooo much more, but mainly she is my have coffee with, gorge on pizza with, starve until dinner because we don't have time to grab a bite to eat while shooting a wedding with, friend. :)

Referral Program

I'm so excited to announce that I have set up a referral program for my fantabulous customers! Referrals are the BEST kind of compliment and work way better than any advertisement ever would and I totally recognize it and so appreciate it! So... for all my peeps, now you'll receive these referral cards after you have done a session for me.

When I receive one back from someone that you've referred me to and they book a session, you'll get $20 put towards future purchases! I'll keep track of it on my end, so all you have to do is pass them out!

Keep smiling!

Little Man

I had such a good time with this cutie! He is so sweet and look at those eyes! If he doesn't melt your heart, then I don't know what will. Thank you to his mom and dad who let me invade their home for the afternoon so I could pay a visit with my camera :)

Keep smiling!

First Look

This last month or so, I have really been focusing on fine-tuning my photography so that I can bring new, fresh and fun ideas to the table. I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am for what Elizabeth K Photography is going to evolve into. It has taken some constructive criticism (mainly from myself) and a lot of support from my fan base (which I want to give a shout-out to! You guys are AWESOME!!!!) but I think we're getting there.

Early in the week I did a post about 1st day photography (Seriously. Read if you have ever considered having kiddos.) and now I'm going to bring you another "1st" type of photography. I would love to take credit for this genius idea, but I totally ripped if off from Jasmine Star (whom I adore! She is to me what Robert Pattinson is to Twilight fans, but without any sexual crush. I felt like I needed to clarify that...). It's called the 1st look and I would encourage, even possibly muscle in some cases, my wedding clients into it.

Before we go too far, I am going to warn you that this is a completely unconventional nontraditional wacky idea and if you're anything like me, well, you're pretty much going to LOVE it!

Let's review tradition. Tradition says that the bride and groom DO NOT see each other on the wedding day prior to the ceremony. Romantic in theory, but frustrating for a photographer wanting to capture the raw emotion in that particular moment. Plus, you can't have the moment. That moment where you're dying to just have the two of you taking it all in. Let us remedy this...

Instead, now I'm offering the 1st look to you. Imagine this: You the bride is taken to a predetermined location where your groom is waiting to see you. His back is turned. Your heart is thumping. You're dying for him to see you and how beautiful you look. You want to see the approval and excitement in his eyes. When you're ready, you tap him on the shoulder, he turns and you have the moment. Just the two of you. Uninterrupted...

OK. So it reads a little like a cheesy romance novel, but I'm not a writer, so you'll have to excuse it. Plus, hate to break the spell, but I'll be there too. I will bring most of the spell back however when I tell you that you will not even know I'm there. It is your moment and I will not interfere in any way. No posing, no "Oh! Hold that there!". No promises for the rest of the day... In fact I might be a little bossy :) but that is the way I get it done. You cannot get these pictures any other way. The emotions that are felt cannot be recreated.

I want to take this time to say a special thank you to Amanda and Seth for first taking that risk of the nontraditional route and also for allowing me to be there. It was amazing and I would encourage even the more traditional couple to strongly consider it! Enjoy the results!

1st Day Photography

As I have mentioned, Elizabeth K Photography is having a major overhaul. I've gotten mixed reviews about this from the hubs, but he needs to learn to just let his little creative genius be.

One awesome new project that I'm offering to you my clients. It's called first day photography and it's going to be Ah-maz-ing!!! How it works: First, give me a call and let me know your due date so I have an idea when the session might be, then while you're still in the hospital just after you have had the baby, make someone else call me (seriously, you have some major rights while and right after giving birth) and we'll set up a time for me to come to the hospital and take pictures right in the room.

Why is this so incredible? Because I can capture those moments that otherwise will never be seen. Siblings meeting their new brother or sister, grandparents holding their first grandchild, the raw emotion that you feel when you and your husband are realizing the significance of what you have done together. Other than snapping some quick pictures, more often than not, we tend to not remember to capture these moments. Let me do that for you! You won't regret it!
