"Same Kind of Different as Me"
Ever have one of those times where someone walks into your life and you are instantaneously great friends? You can relate on every aspect of life and almost finish each others sentences within the first hour of knowing that person? I think it is one of those gifts from God to be cherished. Friendship. We crave it, we need it and when left without abuse can be one of the most beautiful parts of our life. Which brings me to Savannah. *insert smile here*

The first time I met her, I had to ask her which model of Nikon she was using. If you're a photographer, you'll totally get that. She answered me graciously and we moved on. Months later, I posted on my FB fan page that I was going to see J* in Chicago. When she showed interest, I decided to tow her along with me. I mean, really... who wants to go alone?

Odd that I invited her after only having a brief encounter with her? Maybe if you're cautious, practical and have some sort of street-smarts, but luckily I am none of the above. What did my throw-caution-to-the-wind attitude get me? A husband with a lot of questions and a great new friend! I won't bore you with the details of our 6 hour long train ride photography chat, but I will show you my new friend and how incredibly gorgeous she is!

Oh, and the best part? She's a photographer and loves TJ Maxx too! She is the same kind of different as me. Two peas in a pod and what I can only predict as a friend for a lifetime.

Referral Program
I'm so excited to announce that I have set up a referral program for my fantabulous customers! Referrals are the BEST kind of compliment and work way better than any advertisement ever would and I totally recognize it and so appreciate it! So... for all my peeps, now you'll receive these referral cards after you have done a session for me.

When I receive one back from someone that you've referred me to and they book a session, you'll get $20 put towards future purchases! I'll keep track of it on my end, so all you have to do is pass them out!
Keep smiling!

Empty Bowls
I'm so glad to have people in my life that like to help others and try to do good. That's me too. I'm a "do gooder" so I tend to surround myself with people that like to have a positive impact on the world around them. Enter two wonderful ladies/teachers that I know personally and love their heart for helping others. One teaches at Vassar High School and the other at St. Paul school in Millington. They both asked me, almost on the same day, for some sort of donation toward their empty bowls project. Of course the answer was "yes" and I don't want to stop with just that. I would like to share with you what the Empty Bowls project is and how you can help.
As I have mentioned before, I'm merely a sub-par writer (and that, I believe, is an overstatement) so I'll let them tell you in their own words:
Amy Baldwin Art Teacher St. Paul Millington:
"October 26th from 5:00-6:30 at St. Paul Lutheran School. My 3rd grade art students make over 100 ceramic bowls and we have a dinner. Tickets are $10 and patrons receive a soup dinner, dessert, beverages, and get to take home one of the student-made bowls. All of profit goes to the Millington Food Pantry. This fall will be our 4th annual event. We have given about $3000 to the pantry so far.
We also sell small ceramics the kids made, and have silent auctions and door prizes. The money from the auctions and sales goes to a school family (or families) who need a little extra cash. We do quite well here, too. I always have something that pertains to the art industry, since it’s an art event. And since I have so many talented friends (and friends of friends), I’d like to promote their business."
For information on what is being offered as door prizes and auction items, follow this link:

Sarah Piazza Art Teacher Vassar High School:
"Mine is basically like Amy's, but it is not until Feb. It has been running for years through Lois Parsell, this is my first year in charge of it, but she will be there as my mentor along the whole way! I will have 3 silent auction items, some handmade Art items for sale and some door prizes. VHS has given thousands to the Vassar Food Pantry over the years. I am honored to take the torch and keep this tradition going.
This year I am only featuring items to auction/sell that are produced by former VHS Art students - I think it is a great way to show what a little Art can do! "
So, what can you do to help? Participate by purchasing tickets to attend. Support this program to help local families. Not having enough income to be able to purchase the basic necessities in life must be devastating.
For more information, you can contact these teachers via Facebook.

FYI/Did You Know?

I love, love, having a laptop. Why didn't I get one sooner?! It's amazing to be able to sit next to Christian while he does his school work and do my work at the same time! Not only that, but I'm officially a Twitterer (ekphotog) and a Skyper! This whole "welcome to the 21st century" thing is pretty amazing! Settle down, settle down... Now before you get too excited and wet your pants or something, I still am NOT texting. Although, at the rate I'm going, it may be sooner than later. Stay tuned for more details...
That has actually nothing to do with my post today, but I thought I'd just let you all know that I'm shedding the grandma side of me and getting with the times. As I said before I like to let you know all of the options that you have available to you with your photographs, but if I listed all your options, my price sheet would be forever long and, quite frankly, who has time for that?
Gallery wraps are a great gift idea not only for people on your Christmas list, but as a little Christmas gift all to yourself. What?! Life requires a bit of selfishness once in a while. Gallery wraps are UV coated to protect from fading and available in standard and custom sizes. Email me today for pricing.

Did You Know?
I'm going to start about once a month (at least those are my intentions...) a did you know section. There are so many different things we can do with your images, that there is no way I could possibly include them on a price list. So, what I'm going to do is start listing some fun ideas here so you're aware that you're not limited to just standard prints. I love, love, love to get creative and I have a great friend (Sarah Piazza at Sealed Expressions - find her, love her, friend her on FB) and she can either make custom designs for you OR you can chose from one over her pre-made designs which are just as fun and WAY faster!
Today I'm featuring... (drum roll please...) wait for it, wait for it... BOOKMARKS! Sounds boring - right?! Well, not quite. These aren't your grandma's bookmarks. They're cute, fun and quite frankly an awesome little gift for your guests at your wedding. Who wants a container of M&Ms? Ok. Not knocking anyone. To each their own, but it's way more fun to be unique with your wedding and not be like the last. Am I in the dark on this one too? Most people still read a good old fashioned book - right? We're not taken over by Kindle yet!

So, you're probably thinking that anything for your wedding that is customized is way out of your budget. You're sooo wrong! You can get 100 for as little as $75.00! Not. Even. Kidding you. Order them up today. They only take a couple of weeks to arrive and you're guests will be blown away!
Keep smiling!
